6ft 6 ins x 20 1/4 swallow tail

i hav/nt made any boards for awhile but started this one for a friends son , his mum chose the wood which was anigre on the bottom and balsa on the deck ,

the rails are 5 mm strips of balsa and the tail tips are old mahogany stair spindles, i have always wanted to fit some wood in the tips it just looks good and protects the ends at the same time,

the eopxy is a new one i have been trying ,it seems really good as well , low viscosity so it wets out really well,
the fins are polycarbonate, they have a good flexy feel to them , pete

anigre veneer board

this was a board that i made a couple of years ago, its a veneer of an african wood called anigre ,really nice mottled wood ,it only 0.6mm thick so a sandwhich of glass either side keeps it durable , they come out about the same weight as a poly board but are a lot stronger,

the rails are balsa and trhe core is again 1lb eps, i like the veneer boards ,wood is good

the rear fin plug is a fin solution plug ,it takes fcs,fin solution fins or in this case i cut down a futres hatchet fin to use as a rear fin ,

its 6ft 5ins x 20 1/4

new carbon railed board 6ft 1 1/2 x 18 3/4

i thought i would build another carbon railed board again this tine 6ft 1 1/2 x 18 3/4 x 2 1/2 ,same 3mm pu hd foam over a 1 lb eps core , they are a bit more flexable than the all balsa boards but not as light ,still about the same as a pu board but a lot stronger

carbon railed board

due to lack of a camera i could/nt take any pics during the build,
the board was glassed with polyester rather than epoxy on the outside, its for bigger waves so a slight increase in weight is/nt a problem , 2 under and 4 over on the bottom , 4 under and 6 over on the deck , 3mm hd foam ,7 1/2 lb ,6ft 6ins x 18 1/2 x 2 3/8 feels good,
